Why Alpha Matters

Alpha is one of the simplest and most effective ways we create space for people to explore life, faith, and meaning—without pressure, without pretending, and without having everything figured out.

This Page Is for You

This page isn’t public. It’s for our Newbridge family.

Alpha doesn’t work because of a program or a platform. It works because ordinary people choose to invite someone they care about.

Our hope is that this page gives you clarity, confidence, and encouragement to take that simple step.

What Alpha Is (and What It Isn’t)

Alpha IS:

  • A safe place to ask honest questions
  • Built around dinner, a short video, and conversation
  • Respectful of doubts, stories, and different perspectives
  • A space where faith is explored, not forced

Alpha is NOT:

  • A Bible study
  • A commitment to join Newbridge
  • A debate or pressure-filled environment
  • A place where people are put on the spot

Why Invitation Matters

Most people who attend Alpha don’t come because they saw a flyer or a post online.

They come because someone they trust invited them.

Invitation isn’t about having answers. It’s about opening a door. God does the transforming work—our role is faithfulness.

Who Might God Be Asking You to Invite?

  • A friend who’s curious but cautious about church
  • A coworker asking deeper questions about life or meaning
  • A neighbor walking through loss or transition
  • A family member who’s open—but hesitant

You’re not inviting them to a service. You’re inviting them to a conversation.

How to Invite (Simple & Natural)

You don’t need a script—but here are a few helpful ways people often invite:

“Our church is hosting something called Alpha—it’s a place to ask honest questions about faith without pressure. Want to come with me?”
“It’s not a sermon or a Bible study—just dinner and conversation. I thought of you.”
“If it’s not for you, no worries. I’d just love to go together.”

How You Can Be Part of Alpha

1. Invite

Your invitation may be the reason someone takes a step toward faith.

2. Attend (If You’re Able)

Some of the healthiest Alpha tables include people who already follow Jesus— listening well, loving humbly, and modeling faith with grace.
